Shipping Information

How do we ship? Most orders are shipped by UPS Ground service.  Orders of 150 board feet or more get shipped by common carrier truck freight.  Here are some details and limitations:

  • UPS can deliver up to 8' lengths, common carrier services can take up to 16'

  • UPS can leave a package without signature, common carrier deliveries require signature and unload
  • UPS can take multiple packages to one location, common carrier services can take bulk shipments on one pallet
  • UPS can deliver to either residence or business addresses, common carrier services can also deliver to residence (additional fees apply) or business addresses, as well as hold the shipment at the local terminal for pick-up.  The trucking companies we work with will help load the material into a truck or trailer at the terminal.
  • UPS is generally the most economical for shipments under 400 lbs (approximately 120 bf), common carrier services are most economical for shipments over 400 lbs.

Which ever method is used, we fully guarantee intact delivery free of damage.

How long does it take to ship/receive?  In general, it takes 3 business days or less to process your order for shipping.  Transit times will vary depending on the destination, but shipping companies typically take 3-7 days from the day they pick-up to the day they deliver.  Tracking numbers are emailed to you when the order ships.

How is the wood packaged?  Lumber shipments get entirely wrapped in corrugated cardboard and heavy gauge shrink wrap.  The ends and faces are well protected, so if your shipment of wood does incur damage please notify us and we will take care of it.

What is the cost to ship?  This depends on 3 things:

  1. Weight
  2. Size
  3. Destination

As a guide, it costs between $30 and $40 to ship 20 board feet anywhere within the 48 US.  The rate decreases with additional weight.  You can get an accurate shipping charge based on the items in your cart at the beginning of the checkout process.

What about Alaska/Hawaii?  UPS does offer 'surface' shipping to these two states; in addition, we can also ship by common carrier service for larger loads.

What about APO (Military Mail) addresses?  The only way to ship to these addresses is through the United States Postal Service.  Packages may not be heavier than 70 pounds, and no longer than 60".  The protective packaging we use adds about 1"-2" of length on each end, so the maximum board length can be 56".  The cost for this service must be calculated manually and quoted to you prior to shipping.
